Ordering & delivery

How do I place an order?

Order online through the shop, send us a WhatsApp, or phone us. Add the cylinder sizes you need, enter your delivery suburb and submit the checkout form. We confirm your window by WhatsApp or phone. No online card payment is taken — you pay by EFT, on delivery, or on an approved trade account.

When is the cut-off for same-day delivery?

Orders placed before 12:00, Monday to Friday, can be delivered the same day in Zones A and B, subject to stock and route capacity. Zone C is generally next-day. Saturday deliveries are limited to Zone A and are confirmed by phone. If you need something urgently, phone us — we will tell you honestly whether the route has room.

What does delivery cost?

Zone A is R75, Zone B is R95 and Zone C is R145. Delivery is free on orders over R1 500 in Zones A–C. We are delivery-only for now — we bring the exchange to your door. If your suburb is outside our listed zones, send us a WhatsApp and we will quote separately.

Can someone else receive the delivery?

Yes. Anyone aged 18 or older can receive the cylinders and sign the delivery note. Please add a note at checkout if a staff member, security guard or neighbour will receive it, and include the access instructions.

How do I track my order?

Use the Track order page with your GSE reference and the email you used at checkout. You will see the current status and the delivery window. You can also reply to your confirmation or WhatsApp us with the reference.

Cylinder exchange

What does "exchange" mean?

You hand us an empty LP gas cylinder of the same size and we give you a full, checked and sealed one. You pay for the gas and the safety check, not for a new cylinder every time. The empty goes back into the pool to be inspected, tested and refilled.

What if I don't have an empty cylinder?

A refundable deposit applies. The deposit is returned when you bring the cylinder back, undamaged, in test and of the same size. If you keep exchanging, the deposit stays with the cylinder. Deposit amounts are shown on each product page.

Can I exchange a different brand of cylinder?

Usually yes, if it is a standard South African LP gas cylinder in test with a compatible valve. Some specialty or foreign cylinders cannot be accepted. Send us a photo on WhatsApp before you drive over and we will confirm.

What happens if my cylinder is out of test?

We cannot exchange or fill an out-of-test cylinder. We can arrange testing or safe disposal, and supply a replacement on deposit. Using a cylinder past its test date is a safety risk — please do not.

Can I refill instead of exchanging?

For now we focus on cylinder exchange: you bring an empty, you leave with a full one. This avoids queues at a filling station and lets us inspect every cylinder in the pool. If you need a refill of a specialty cylinder, contact us and we will advise.

Sizes & usage

Which size should I choose?

A 5 kg suits camping, a caravan and a small braai. A 9 kg is the standard household size for a braai, small hob or gas water heater. A 19 kg suits bigger households, restaurants and patio heaters. A 48 kg is for high-volume kitchens, guesthouses and production. If you are unsure, tell us what you are running and we will point you to the right one.

How long does a 9 kg cylinder last?

A medium braai burner uses roughly 0.18–0.22 kg per hour, so a 9 kg gives about 40–50 hours of cooking. A small two-plate stove used once a day can last weeks. A patio heater is thirstier: expect around 10–15 hours. Weigh the cylinder to check — full is around 18 kg, empty around 9 kg.

Can I use a patio heater indoors?

No. Patio heaters are designed for outdoor use. Burning gas in an enclosed space produces carbon monoxide, which is invisible and can be fatal. Keep the heater clear of walls, curtains and furniture, and never use it in a tent, caravan or garage.

How often should I replace the hose and regulator?

Replace the hose every five years, or sooner if it is cracked, hard, swollen or damaged. Replace a regulator if it is damaged, leaking or not holding pressure. Check the connection with soapy water before use — never with a flame.

Can I use a cylinder for a gas stove indoors?

Yes, a gas stove designed for indoor use can be used indoors with ventilation and a correctly fitted regulator and hose. Never use a braai, camping stove or patio heater indoors. If you smell gas, stop and follow the safety steps.

Payment & accounts

How can I pay?

You can pay by EFT before delivery, by card or cash on delivery, or on an approved GASE trade account. If you choose EFT, our banking details are sent with your order confirmation. We do not take card details on this website.

Do you offer trade accounts?

Yes. Trade accounts are available to restaurants, guesthouses, cafés and other regular business customers. Open one from the For business page or contact us with your cylinder sizes, rough monthly volumes and delivery suburb. We usually respond within one working day.

Can I get an invoice?

Yes. Every order gets a reference and a delivery note. Trade accounts receive a monthly invoice. If you need a VAT invoice for a once-off order, add your company name and VAT number in the notes at checkout, or email us.

Can I cancel or change an order?

Phone us as soon as possible. If the order has not been packed or dispatched, we can usually change or cancel it. Once a cylinder is filled or on the van, a handling fee may apply.

Safety

What should I do if I smell gas?

Stop. Do not switch anything electrical on or off. Put out naked flames. Open doors and windows if it is safe. Close the cylinder valve if you can reach it. Get everyone out and call us. For a fire or a serious leak, call the emergency services first.

Can I store a cylinder indoors?

No. LP gas cylinders should be stored upright outdoors, shaded and ventilated, away from ignition sources and drains. Gas is heavier than air and will collect at floor level in a room, basement or cupboard.

What if my cylinder is damaged or out of test?

Stop using it. Do not attempt to repair the valve or body, and do not have it filled. Call us and we will advise on safe disposal or testing, and supply a replacement on deposit if needed.

How should I transport a cylinder?

Upright, secured and with the valve closed. Ideally in a ventilated bakkie or trailer, not the passenger cabin. Never leave a cylinder loose or in a parked vehicle in the sun. Remove it as soon as you get home.

Where can I read more?

Our safety page covers storage, ventilation, leak checks, transport and emergency steps. If you are unsure about your setup, contact us and we will advise on the next exchange.
